This is practically in my backyard although a considerable hike from where I needed to park the car. A mixture of photos from a couple of winters ago and some from July 2017. Ended up speaking to a couple of old gents who were working on a locomotive.

A brief history: The Leighton Buzzard narrow gauge railway was in service by the end of 1919 and served sand quarries north of the town. Using mostly surplus materials and equipment from the War Department Light Railways which had operated the supply lines to the battle zones, it was built to 2 foot gauge, and was just over 3.5 miles long. It is currently run by volunteers with plenty of stories to tell and has regular train rides on the restored line.
